Fossilised Glass

I use actual ferns, leaves and feathers to create my fossilised works.  The leaves are pressed, then coated with layers of silver mica or coloured glass powder then fused under a sheet of glass. The organic matter burns away at the high kiln temperatures required to fuse glass, and the mica and glass powders fuse with the sheet of glass to retain the intricate detail from the original leaf or feather, hence the use of the term "fossilised".
